NS is a new experience which I guess I'll never take well to.
Unless I become an officer but like that will ever happen if I don't get that 11 cm for SBJ. Whichever the case, I'll be perfectly happy to be a man.
And if my PC or PS or sec com or whoever sees this, they'll be mighty disappointed since I was their gold hope thanks to my running. But frankly, it's alot easier to cut down 11 minutes to 9.30 than to gain 11 cm in SBJ in 1 month.
Though, I wonder do I want to be those commanders? The officers have a certain mould and so do the specialists. If I already dismiss military discipline as useless, then what happens to me if i'm forced to carry it out? Might as well follow orders and act blur.
They're always pushing people to train hard but don't they realise it's a vicious cycle. People train hard, they get injured, they take status, they miss training and finally is rewarded with an extra night's stay in tekong for RT. For those who don't get injured, good on you. So what's the point of training hard? Might as well go through it at your own comfortable pace.
While I'm not the kind who likes to chao keng and am always fearful of authority like a good singaporean is, I see the merits of being boh chup in the army. The less you care, the less worried you are, the less stress. Not the best attitude, but seeing the military as it is, taking such a stance prolongs your life. There's a saying, "Act Blur Live Longer".
Best of all, I come in a poly batch, where everybody has a diploma. I've no idea why they're so garang. I know the JC batch is worse. But seriously, can't let a poor man sleep till 530? They would bother about officers being younger than them rather than accepting that the officers have the seniority in the army. They would just as soon cannibalise of their own if the sergeant makes a little noise. It's like a verbal and mental blanket party. And they'll forever assert that poly is better than JC.
I'm the youngest there, by 4 years when compared to the oldest. The reason why I'm so badly bullied is because my running is alright. Otherwise, I'm fresh meat.
I'll be eating so I've got to go but next week If I book out on a friday, I talk more if not 3 weeks later because field camp is here.
